Can a CFO Innovate?

As the role of the finance organization evolves, so too does the role of the modern CFO. And while innovation and change are not usually words associated with the CFO's function, the key to a more effective and adaptive enterprise rests in large part within the CFO's hands.

The CFO has the potential to be a business model innovator who drives change across the organization in non-traditional ways. I will look at three very different but equally important examples:

  1. Educating capital markets about the importance of radical growth opportunities
  2. Taking the lead in harnessing the drivers of sustainability well beyond just "a greener image"
  3. Fostering organizational changes such as creating regional shared services that can help company enter into new geographies.
