Upfront: Electronic Payment Lags

Treasury workstations continue to grow in popularity; 58 percent of cash managers currently use them. But even though this technology can streamline processes and reduce costs, deeper deployment of the systems may not be a priority for treasury, according to a survey by Treasury Strategies Inc. Forty-two percent of treasury workstation users have not developed an effective process for initiating electronic payments from the systems, and 37 percent have no plans to implement or expand electronic invoicing and payment programs.
