BASIS POINTS: New Credit Card Legislation Could Help Retailers

Proposed credit card legislation could bring welcome relief to businesses. It would help to create a more transparent card system by requiring companies to disclose their fees for swipes, terms, and conditions, which would, among other things, let retailers refuse to accept credit cards with especially high fees, and allow merchants to set minimum purchase amounts for customers.
